Hollow is, first and foremostly, a question that troubles image-object relations. Hollow is, secondly, an artist book cum monograph that charts Vytautas Kumža’s practice, and the development of a singular yet open-ended visual language.

At once a portable exhibition and a living archive, Lemons Gazing at Mount Etna brings together Lonneke van der Palen’s visual investigations. Premised upon the vernacular of the everyday, Van der Palen’s magnification of details transforms found objects—such as a plastic chair or stray shopping bag—into the protagonists of material culture

A hook echo is a radar signature for the part of a supercell tornado wherein the clouds come together with maximum force. Its name derives from the hook-shaped formation with which it shows up on a weather radar. In 1974 a supercell tornado hit the city of Xenia, Ohio (US), demolishing around 1400 buildings.

With elementary materials—wood, paper, clay, tape, paint—Fleur van Dodewaard creates ephemeral compositions that play with the possibilities of photography, sculpture, and painting. Situated at the intersection of these disciplines, her work uses photography as the final result. Questions relating to the art object, discourses about the creative process and image making, and art historical references are fundamental to her investigations. They provide the terms of an ongoing tumbling and cross-relating of old and new images, objects, ideas, and forms.
